Obituary for Walter P. "Woodie" Wood
Walter Paul “Woodie” Wood, of Danville Pa; passed away on Monday, April 09, 2018 at the age of 66.
Walter was born on Sept. 13, 1951 in Bloomsburg Pa. He is the son of Patricia (Duncan) Wood-Stair, of Bloomsburg, and the late Raymond Lewis Wood.
Walter was a graduate of the Bloomsburg High School class of 1969 and attended Lycoming Community College. His many jobs included working in the kitchen at Bloomsburg State College, Bloomsburg Mills, Milco, managing Wheatherhold & Metzger in Wilkes-Barre, Finance Manager at Liberty Chevrolet and Social Club Manager at the Columbia Valley Moose #623. He was a Past Master of Washington Lodge #265 serving as secretary for many years.
“Woodie” was an avid Penn State Football fan having been a season ticket holder for over 30 years. He enjoyed traveling to Boston to take in a Red Sox game at Fenway and a trips to Rehoboth Beach with family and friends. His favorite place on earth was undeniably Walt Disney World, it was his “Happy Place”, having been able to enjoy it with every member of his family was a dream come true.
In addition to his father, he was proceeded in death by his paternal grandparents Walter and Charlotte (Honeywell) Wood and maternal grandparents Paul and Ethel (Smith) Duncan.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years Robin (Sorber) Wood; daughter Amanda Wood and son Brandon Wood; his mother Patricia (Duncan) Wood-Stair and husband James Stair. Robert Santore whom he considered a second son along with his wife Alicia and two sons Brendan and Collin who lovingly referred to him as “Grandpa Woodie”. He is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. And lastly two furry companions Sadie Rose and Trixie.
