R. Jack Eyer, 84, of Danville and formerly of Millville passed away Monday September 30, 2019 at Nazareth Memory Center, Danville. He was born in Millville on June 22, 1935, the son of the late Maus N. and Anna (Polk) Eyer. Jack lost his mother at the age of six and was raised by his father and stepmother Irma (Lawton) Eyer.

Jack was drafted into the United States Army on June 6, 1956 and served one year with his unit 2nd Armored Calvary in Germany. He then served one year at Fort George G. Meade in Maryland. He was honorably discharged from active duty on June 5, 1958. He then served two years in the active reserves with the local unit the 814th Supply Company in Bloomsburg.
Jack married the love of his life and former classmate Yvonne Zeisloft on June 13, 1959 and two children were born of this marriage.
Jack loved watching athletic contests especially his grandsons soccer games. Jack played amateur league baseball for a number of years.
Jack and Yvonne spent 14 winters in their RV in Florida. Jack was a lifelong member of the Big Run Hunting Club of Sullivan County. He was a life member of the Millville Community Fire Co. He was a also a life member of the Millville Christian Church, where he also served as it’s treasurer for twenty-five years. Jack retired from PPL on January 1, 1995.
He is survived by two children; Nol Eyer wife Cindy of Frederick, Maryland, Beth Ann Eyer and partner Kathy Schmid of Watsontown, two grandsons Collin and Connor Eyer, brother Donald Eyer wife Mitz of Millville, and sister Marie Fisher husband Chick of Millville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, wife, and brother Ned Eyer.
Services will be Friday October 4, 2019 at 10:00 am at Millville Christian Church, 245 E. Main St., Millville with his pastor, Pastor Ryan Reigh and Pastor Rich Plocinski officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday October 3, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Bunnell Funeral Home Inc., 179 E. Main St. Millville and from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the church. Family and friends may send online condolences to bunnellfuneralhome.com.
